Five

Storyline of FIVE A man is taking revenge on the fact that his wife has been murdered. He is quite a spiritual man, not Christian but weird rituals. He has a ritual that he wants to perform, to regain his wife and the only way it can work is if he uses victims that resemble his wife. It takes him a year to collect his four victims. Meanwhile the daughter is witnessing all these women being taken away and then never seeing them again. On the fourth victim she plucks up the courage to go down to the basement where she has been told not to go, she then hears screams and other terrifying sounds. When the time comes for the fifth and final victim the ritual says it must be the family blood of the man. Unfortunately the man has turned completely delusional and the only person he then sees that has his family blood and reminds him of his wife is his only daughter. The ritual doesn’t end up working because the daughter isn’t actually his! His wife had an affair and the daughter was from that relationship, unbeknown to the man.The opening sequenceI’d like to have three close ups ofThe man’s hand, drawing the chalk circle. The woman’s face, with a tatty blindfold on.Bird’s eye view of the circle with the star inside. She becomes curious, peers around the top of the stairs, she starts quietly walking down the stairs to the basement door. When she gets there she gently pushes the door and it swings open, she can’t see anything inside because it is so dark. She steps in, and sees pools of blood at each point of the star, except the top point. In the far corner there is a body. White tunic dress and a tatty bit of material around her eyes. There are heavy footsteps coming down the stairs, she runs and crouches in the corner. The steps stop by the door; there is a silhouette of the man in the doorway. The heartbeat of the girl can be heard and with each beat there is a flash of the circle with a girl lying at one of the points, and at the next heartbeat there is another girl at a different point. Without another sound the man is leaning over the girl. He lifts his arm holding a knife, and then there is a long scream.

The stroy is set in 1963 in the American countryside. A 52 year old American man, Ryan, who needs to seek revenge of the murder of his wife. His wife, Suzy was a lot younger than him, she was 29 at the time of her murder, aslo an American. She was murdered by the wife of the man she had an affair with. Ryan was quite a spiritual man, not Christian, but Black Magic. He has as ritual that he wants to perform to regain his wife, and the only way it can work is if he uses victims that resemble his wife. It takes him a year to collect his four victims He chose them as they all had diffferent characteristics to his wife. His four vitctims were Ella, Estelle, Caroline and Harriot. Mean while, the daughter is witnessing all of these women being taken away and never seen again. On the fourth victim she plucks up the courage to go down to the basement were she has been told not to go, she then hears screams and other terrifying sounds. When the time comes for the fifth and final victim the ritual says it must be the family bloody of the man. Unfortunately Ryan has turned completely dilusional and the only person he then sees that has his family blood and reminds him of his wife is his only daughter. The ritual does not end up working because the daughter isn't actually his, his wife had an affair with the husband of the women who murdered her and the daughter was his and not Ryans.

What is a Thriller

What is a Thriller?

A thriller is a book or film which is designed to keep the reader or viewer on edge with suspenseful and sensational action. Thrillers have also been produced in the radio, theater, and television media. This genre is incredibly large, and thrillers often overlap with pieces of work produced in other genres; mysteries, for example, are often thrillers. Many people find thrillers very enjoyable, and they appreciate the fast pacing and complex plots associated with this genre.
Several characteristics help to define a thriller. Thrillers typically involve sudden plot twists and lots of red herrings, for example, keeping people unsure about what is going to happen. This suspense can get almost unbearable, especially in a long piece or a television series. Thrillers also have a lot of action, which is often chaotic, and they typically feature resourceful heroes and exotic settings.
The plots of thrillers can vary widely. Some are supernatural, for example, centering around mystical antagonists. Others are scientific or medical in nature, forcing their protagonists to contend with biological agents or mysterious scientific happenings. Some are simply straight mysteries with clever, horrific, or intriguing antagonists, while others be focused on the inner workings of the legal system, environmental threats, technology, or natural disasters. One long-established thriller genre is the spy thriller, featuring an often heroic and dashing spy who must confront whichever enemy happens to be popular at the moment.
Some thrillers are extremely intellectual and of very high quality, encouraging more educated people to enjoy them. Many such thrillers incorporate a psychological aspect, forcing people to examine the motivations and backstories of the characters to figure out the plot. Others are more simplistic, in the vein of the penny dreadful and designed to appeal to a much wider audience. Many thriller books are adapted into movies, and thrillers can also be turned into comic books and television shows.

Idea for a Thriller

Prelim task Evaluation

We were filming in one room above the studio, nothing was in it except three lights and some chairs. In this room there were two doors. We used the second door back in the room.
We shoot the hole scene four or five times , a white shoot , over the shoulder from the girl and the boy and a middle shot.
Then we did some close up from the girl and for example from the feeds of the boy.
The room I think was not the best location to shoot this scenes because the room looks like that nobody used it for a long time.
We had three lights one in each corner the light was light and two of them hard and one soft.
When we started to shoot each of us got work to do for example on hold the camera one got the paper where the actors shout stand, etc.
The whole shooting took together one hour a half for the main shooting and the other half for some close up from the girl face and the boys.
Because it was the first time we were shooting with other actors it was very interesting to see how hard it actually is to shoot only an one minute extract.

Introduction to practical skills

In the last weeks we already did a lot of Practical things in Media studies, first we learned during two lessons how Photoshop works they showed us a lot of things and then we tried on our own. First we learned al the mane parts we have to know like how to copy things or how to use a Lasso. But also some things about Pixel and technical things.
I personally like Photoshop very much, on the beginning it is very hard to get used to it and to know how to use everything but I think when you know how everything works you can do a lot of cool things like Poster or funny Pictures.
After we learned something about a Camera and tripod. On the beginning we learned how to use a tripod, it was not very hard, After we learned something about the Camera 'PD170' how to but here on the tripod and what all the signs means. Also how to but the batterie in it and how it works that you can shoot something.
The first sign we learned about was on the top in the left side, it is the batterie. It shows us how much batterie is left on the Camera.
On the top, right side is the Time Code, it looks like this : "--:--:--:--" the beginning shows us the hours, the second the minutes the third the seconds and the forth the number of frame it goes only to 24.
Also we learned something about hotspots, sound quality, what kind of light we should use and about shutter speed.
Shutter speed is for example when it is on 600 you can use it to film sport, 6 is like slow motion and 50 is like normal. Then we also did our little own extract in a group that shows us how to use a camera. Actually to use a camera is harder then it looks like but it is very much fun I think.
One day we were in the studio and had Interviews. I was the hole time in the studio because I did the light and I enjoyed it very much. When he dar " ready action " everyone buts the light and Camera on and the Interview started.
We used blue and wight light, the camera was I think a PD170, two people were on the light and two people used the camera she only moved sometimes but actually she always was in the same position the lighting moved sometimes too. two people were the speakers and everyone had a Interview with questions like : ' Why have you chosen this subject?' or ' What is your favorite movie?' or 'Name two of your most played tunes on your I Pod'.
And on the end and we are still doing are our blogs. On the blog we are butting for example this essay, pictures of myself and many other things. It is like having a own homepage. But we still just started yet with the blogs so I don't know yet how it is but I think it is quiet cool.
